Sex- and Tissue-Specific Effects of Binge-Level Prenatal Alcohol Consumption on DNA Methylation at Birth

As it is suspected that binge-level PAE causes abnormalities which may be mediated in part by epigenetic mechanisms, this study investigates the association between binge PAE and genome-wide DNA methylation profiles in a sex-specific manner in neonatal buccal and placental samples.

FASD and youth firesetting: A call on criminal justice, emergency responder, and fire prevention specialists to become informed

As individuals with FASD have brain-based deficits translating to impulsive behaviours, fire setting is not uncommon. First responders are often unable to recognise the behavioural indicators of FASD, primarily due to a lack of training. This article will outline key behavioural symptoms of FASD as well as provide first responders with suggestions as to how to best support individuals when FASD is suspected.
