Barriers and facilitators in antenatal settings to screening and referral of pregnant women who use alcohol or other drugs: A qualitative study of midwives’ experience
Screening pregnant women for substance use is highly recommended in antenatal care settings. Although midwives provide routine screening for substance use and referral for treatment in pregnancy, little is known about the barriers and facilitators they experience. The study explored barriers and facilitators experienced by midwives in antenatal settings to screening and referral of pregnant women who use alcohol or other drugs.

Warning Labels about Alcohol Consumption and Pregnancy: Moving from Industry Self-regulation to Law
One of the interventions for the prevention of FASD is the application of warning labels to packaged alcoholic beverages. DrinkWise was allowed to operate an industry self-regulatory scheme to provide alcohol producers with prototype warnings about drinking during pregnancy. This study observed the flaws in the enforcement and framework of DrinkWise Labelling Scheme.

A scoping review of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health promotion programs focused on modifying chronic disease risk factors
Noncommunicable chronic disease underlies much of the life expectancy gap experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and modifying contributing risk factors could help close this disease gap. This scoping review identified and describes SNAPS health promotion programs implemented for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia.

Given that most women who drink alcohol cease consumption upon pregnancy recognition, we aimed to investigate the effect of alcohol around the time of conception on offspring renal development and function.

Disability “In-Justice”: The Benefits and Challenges of “Yarning” With Young People Undergoing Diagnostic Assessment for FASD in a Youth Detention Center
This study reported the findings from a qualitative study, using “social yarning” and “research topic yarning”, that took place alongside a FASD prevalence study among detainees in Australia. It describes how employing a “yarning” method for collecting data could benefit children and young people undergoing neurodevelopmental assessments in the future.
