Family-centred, therapeutic camps for Aboriginal children with complex neurodevelopmental needs and early life trauma in remote Australia: a qualitative study of the Marurra-U family camp
Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations in the Fitzroy Valley are internationally recognised for their leadership in supporting children with foetal alcohol spectrum disorder and early life trauma, and their families. This study investigates the design and parent-reported impact of the Marurra-U family camp, a family-centred, therapeutic, recreational camp for Aboriginal children with complex neurodevelopmental or social-emotional needs.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness, Knowledge, and Practice Among Australian Occupational Therapists: A Cross-Sectional Survey
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) describes a spectrum of birth defects and developmental disabilities resulting from prenatal alcohol exposure. With a prevalence rate of 3.64%, developing an FASD-informed occupational therapy workforce is essential across all practice contexts. Since the Australian diagnostic guidelines were introduced in 2016 and updated in 2025, awareness has grown. This study aimed to explore Australian occupational therapists' awareness, knowledge, and practice regarding FASD.

Increased Prevalence of Rare Copy Number Variants in Australian Children With Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: Experience in a State-Wide Diagnostic Service
Prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) can result in fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), a permanent, heterogeneous condition characterized by severe neurodevelopmental impairments with or without microcephaly, characteristic facial dysmorphology, and congenital anomalies. Clinical and pre-clinical studies suggest that genetic factors, in the mother or fetus, influence the phenotypic outcomes following PAE. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the prevalence and types of DNA copy number variants (CNVs) in children (0–18 years) diagnosed with FASD and to identify genes known to be associated with neurodevelopmental disorders.

It Pays to Ask Twice: Alcohol Consumption Amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Who Self-Reported Not Drinking Alcohol
It is important that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who experience worries from alcohol use are linked with support. Screening is important to help link people to support. However, individuals may not freely report consumption, especially if they perceive discrimination or drink less than others. Here we report on the use of a ‘check question’ asking about alcohol consumption on special occasions.

Reducing Justice System Inequities in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD): Evidence From Six Countries
Individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) are up to nineteen times more likely to come into contact with the criminal justice system (CJS), reflecting a critical public health and safeguarding concern. Interrogative suggestibility and confabulation are theorised mechanisms heightening risk during investigative encounters, yet experimental evidence with young people remains limited.

Exploring Phosphatidylethanol Cutoffs for Self-Reported Unhealthy Alcohol Use: An International Multi-Site Analysis
Unhealthy alcohol use is a preventable cause of morbidity and mortality, yet screening is hampered by inaccurate reporting. Phosphatidylethanol (PEth) is a biomarker that quantifies total drinking over the past 2–4 weeks, but PEth cutoffs for unhealthy drinking have not been well-examined.
