This pamphlet has been developed by the Remote Alcohol & Other Drugs Workforce Program in collaboration with Menzies School of Health Research’s Aboriginal and Islander Mental Health Initiative.
This booklet for Aboriginal women provides information about the risks of drinking alcohol during pregnancy and strategies to support women to not drink. It also promotes the availability of professional services to support women in not drinking alcohol during pregnancy and the role family and friends play in supporting a pregnant woman.

James Fitzpatrick is a consultant paediatrician, researcher and entrepreneur. He advises the Federal Minister for Indigenous health on strategies to ‘Close the Gap’ in Indigenous health disparity and was influential in shaping the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan 2013 – 2023.
