This study investigated what proportion of birth defects are related to alcohol use during pregnancy (ARBD). It was reported that there was a significant association between maternal alcohol-related diagnoses recorded during pregnancy and ARBD. The article recommends that routine collection and recording of alcohol use during pregnancy has the potential to advance knowledge of ARBD.
